<p>When answering calls:<br />
â€¢	Speak clearly into the phone<br />
â€¢	Use a cheerful or professional voice<br />
â€¢	Speak using your normal tone of voice<br />
â€¢	Do not eat or drink on the phone<br />
â€¢	Do not use slang, poor language or swear words over the phone<br />
â€¢	Address the caller as Mr. or Ms. (last name).  <br />
â€¢	Listen to everything the caller has to say before<span id="more-6"></span> responding.  Repeat it back to the client for verification if needed.<br />
â€¢	Donâ€™t get an attitude when the caller is upset or irate.  Instead be helpful and patient.<br />
â€¢	Ask the caller if they want to be on hold before doing it.  If a person is on hold don&#8217;t leave them on hold; check on them.  <br />
â€¢	Focus on the call.  If you are interrupted let the interrupter them know that you&#8217;re on a call.</p>
<p>When making calls:<br />
â€¢	Tell the recipient who you are<br />
â€¢	Be discreet.  Other people can hear the private conversation.<br />
â€¢	When leaving a message keep it short and to the point.  <br />
â€¢	Apologize for dialing a wrong phone number.</p>
<p>Proper phone etiquette is important.  Both parties will feel respected and acknowledged.</p>
